Ouessant sheep are claimed to be the smallest sheep in the world. Rams are 18 to 20 inches in height and 33 to 48 lbs., ewes 17–18 inches, 28–35 lbs. This is about 1/2 the size of small breeds such as Shetland, 1/5th the size of an average breed, and 1/10 the size of the largest breeds. This is illustrated in the following figure:
